
24 Feb NEWS: Udderbelly 2015 Circus Season Announced
It has been announced that this spring – summer, Udderbelly Festival’s circus season is back, continuing to support cutting-edge circus companies. Between April and July 2015, there will be three spectacular headline shows – A Simple Space, Circus Geeks: Beta Testing, and Bromance – which promise to “dazzle London with incredible physical feats and awe-inspiring performances. Once again, Udderbelly brings the most outrageous acrobatics to the iconic upside-down purple cow on the South Bank.”
The season opens with last year’s smash-hit circus show, A Simple Space, which returns to London on Tuesday 21st April, staying until Sunday 24th May 2015. The eight young acrobats compete for your laughter, gasps and applause with non-stop, mind-boggling feats of breath-taking acrobatics. Get up close and personal with one of Australia’s hottest circus ensembles, Gravity & Other Myths, as they push themselves to their limits and beyond in a captivating show of physicality, skill and daring.
Next up, from Tuesday 26th May – Sunday 21st June 2015 is the funny, geeky and super smart Circus Geeks: Beta Testing, which lifts the lid on life as a juggler. Ever wondered what goes into being a professional performer, marvelled at how tricks are learnt or wanted an insight into life on the road? Beta Testing is a fascinating and hilarious insight into things you never knew you didn’t know. Discover the wonder behind juggling as these incredible performers show you skills that’ll make your mind boggle. It’s juggling, but not as you know it.
Finally, from Wednesday 24th June – Sunday 19th July 2015, prodigal UK circus company Barely Methodical Troupe fuse their inner frats with a dazzling tour de force of cutting edge circus prowess and physical theatre mayhem. The multi-award-winning, critically-acclaimed company present Bromance, as they walk the line between the pugnacious and the poignant, in this hilarious, bitter-sweet and downright jaw-dropping celebration of everything blokey – where handshakes become handstands and back slaps become backflips.
