Cameron (and Not Mackintosh This Time) Announces New Show

04 Jun Cameron (and Not Mackintosh This Time) Announces New Show

Avatar

It has been announced that film director James Cameron (Titanic, The Terminator) is collaborating with Cirque du Soleil to bring record breaking film Avatar to the stage.

Due to open in late 2015, the show will take the form of an international tour, travelling ahead of the release of three silver screen sequels to the 2009 film that ignited interest in 3D cinematography. This Canadian collaboration between Cameron (in the form of his co-founded Lightstorm Entertainment) and Cirque du Soleil will be joined by Twentieth Century Fox, financiers and distributors of the original film.

With the film awarded three Oscars, two Baftas and two Golden Globes, expectations of the show will doubtlessly be high; but with the recent last minute cancellation of the US Jesus Christ Superstar tour, ticket sales will certainly be being watched closely.

Details of the cast, creatives and the tour schedule are yet to be announced.
