NEWS – US Tour of Jesus Christ Superstar Cancelled

31 May NEWS – US Tour of Jesus Christ Superstar Cancelled

Jesus Christ Superstar

It was today announced that the US arena tour of Jesus Christ Superstar, scheduled to play 51 cities across the States beginning on 9th June- just over a week away- has been cancelled.

Ben Forster (scheduled to play Jesus) and JC Chasez (Pontius Pilot) were mid-rehearsal in New Orleans when they were told the news, with the rest of the cast and crew about to fly out to join them. Forster expressed his upset via twitter:

Jesus Christ Superstar was also set to include Brandon Boyd (Incubus) as Judas, Michelle Williams (Destiny’s Child) as Mary Magdalene, and John Lydon (Sex Pistols) as King Herod, none of whom seemed to have any idea that the show was at risk of cancellation; even on Thursday afternoon, publicity interviews were going ahead as panned.

As yet a reason for the cancellation has not been given, however it is expected that slow ticket sales may have a part to play.

Our thoughts are with the cast and crew.
