17 Mar LOOK AHEAD: Trainspotting at the King’s Head Theatre
Long before Trainspotting emerged as a cult-classic blockbuster, came Irvine Welsh’s generation-defining novel. Translated for the stage by Harry Gibson long before the film was even conceived of, In Your Face Theatre’s production brings the show back to London, straight from a critically received sell-out Edinburgh Fringe season.
The “punchy” 60 minute production aims to “recapture the passion and controversy of Trainspotting and repackage it into an immersive production that will transform the King’s Head Theatre like you’ve never experienced before.”
Telling the story of Mark Renton and his friends living through the Edinburgh heroin scene of the 80s, Trainspotting is not one for the faint-hearted, with scenes of nudity and of a sexual nature, strong language, heavy drug/needle use and claustrophobia. Promising to be a no-holds-barred production, it seems set to be a must for avid fans and Trainspotting virgins alike.
