24 Aug Broadway’s Motown the Musical Coming to the West End
The producers of Broadway’s Motown the Musical have announced that the show will be coming to the West End in autumn 2015, expected to be in the Dominion Theatre, before returning to Broadway in 2016.
It is an unusual move for a show that’s still attracting sold-out audiences to be closing, but according to producer Kevin McCollum, “we are only saying farewell to Broadway for now. We are leaving on a strong note, because we have a plan in place to come back even stronger.” He went on, “by closing in January, 2015, we have an opportunity to use the production assets from Broadway for the UK production next year.”
The current production of Motown the Musical is directed by Charles Randolph-Wright, featuring songs from Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye, Diana Ross, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder and many more.
